England should consider themselves hugely fortunate to even be playing this match. Frankly, the Three Lions did not deserve to squeak past Slovakia in the Round of 16 and were merely seconds away from being eliminated from the tournament before a Jude Bellingham bicycle kick in injury time kept them alive. This poor performance suggests England’s underwhelming group stage was not a fluke and the Three Lions may run out of luck here.
Conversely, Switzerland are one of the biggest overachievers at Euro 2024. While second place in Group A was probably the expectation considering the relative weakness of their rivals, the Swiss put on a real show against Italy, eliminating the reigning champions with a 2-0 victory that looked near effortless. They will face the Three Lions with no fear.
