The U.K. may be the home of William Shakespeare, but not even the great bard could have written a tale better than the one that has played out so far at the 2024 British Grand Prix.
Three British drivers occupy the first three places on today's starting grid, with a Mercedes one-two (so something for the Germans to cheer, too!) of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton on the front row. Lando Norris is then joined by champion Max Verstappen behind them.
As well as being an amazing achievement for the British trio — who will be joined by teenager Oliver Bearman next year after just signing for Haas — it's fantastic news for any motor racing fan who is a little tired of Max Verstappen dominating the Drivers' Championship. He starts fourth today and, although it's still extremely likely he'll drive to yet another title, some different faces at the front of the grid do help to keep things interesting.

British Grand Prix circuit
The 2024 British Grand Prix takes place over 52 laps of the 5.891-kilometre Silverstone Circuit on Sunday, July 7.
One of the iconic racing circuits in the world, Silverstone has enjoyed a spot on the Formula 1 calendar — not to mention a place in the heart of motorsport fans — for over 70 years.
Located at the border of Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, Silverstone is known for its rich racing history and festival-like atmosphere.
The track is comprised of 18 bends including classic corners such as Luffield, Stowe and Abbey. Hometown hero Lewis Hamilton, winner of the British Grand Prix a record eight times, has a straight named in his honor.
The British Grand Prix starts at 3 p.m. local time and the unpredictable British weather often plays a part in the outcome of the race. Lewis Hamilton famously put on a wet-weather masterclass in 2008, winning the race by over a minute in the McLaren.
British Grand Prix FAQ
So, that's how to watch the British Grand Prix and all the race timings sorted. Now here's an F1 British GP FAQ for everything else you want to know about the upcoming race.
What were the 2024 British G.P. qualifying results?
There was high drama all the way through Saturday's qualifying, and George Russell continued the good times flowing from last week's win by flying to a Q3 time of 1:25.819. That left seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton in second, to make it all Mercedes up front.
Champion Max Verstappen had gone through wet gravel during the first session and couldn't get his damaged Red Bull to any better than fourth, sharing the second row with Lando Norris.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was unable to progress from a poor Q2, which leaves him starting 11th today. While Sergio Perez's disappointing season continues in the Red Bull, starting all the way back in 19th on the grid after spinning out during Q1.
What are the odds and predictions for the 2024 British GP?
Despite starting Sunday's race from fourth on the grid, Max Verstappen starts as joint favorite to top the podium. That's alongside Lando Norris at 2/1.
Pole sitter and last week's winner George Russell is 10/3, Lewis Hamilton 4/1 and Oscar Piastri 20/1.
What will the weather be like at the 2024 Britain Grand Prix?
It's a pretty gray and miserable weekend at Silverstone, with plenty of rain forecast and even the potential of thundery storms looming on raceday. There haven't been many wet G.P.s yet this season, so this will present a new test for the drivers.
When is the next race?
The 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix follows the British GP two weeks later on Sunday, July 21.
Who won the 2023 British Grand Prix?
Red Bull's Max Verstappen won the 2023 British GP, finishing with a time of 1:25:16.938. Lando Norris defeated Lewis Hamilton to second.
What is the lap record at the British Grand Prix?
Dutch driver Max Verstappen set the fastest lap time for the current Silverstone Circuit configuration at the 2020 British Grand Prix. Driving in the Red Bull, he posted a time of 1:27.097.
British Grand Prix winners
British driver Sir Lewis Hamilton holds the record for the most British Grand Prix wins with eight (2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021).
Britain's Jim Clark and France's Alain Prost have both the British GP five times. Nigel Mansell has four wins, while Jack Brabham, Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher have three apiece.
Sir Stirling Moss became the first British driver to win the British Grand Prix in 1955. It was double celebration as the victory secured his first World Championship title.
For a third weekend in a row we've got a Formula One race to look forward to, and as the 12th meeting on the 2024 calendar gets underway in just a few hours' time, we've got all the TV and streaming details you'll need ahead of the British Grand Prix.
We'll soon be three races into a run of seven in a row taking place across Europe, and if last weekend's Austrian Grand Prix is anything to go by, we're all set for another 52 laps of high-octane driving and even higher levels of drama— after defending champion Max Verstappen knocked himself out of contention to win his home race having looked set for yet another victory.
With just a handful of laps left to run, Verstappen and current runner-up Lando Norris came to blows on the penultimate corner of the Red Bull Ring, ruling Norris out of the race altogether and seeing the Dutchman drop to fifth as Mercedes' George Russell ran clear to record his first victory of the season in bizarre circumstances.
The Brit's surprise win is the best possible opening to the 79th edition of the British Grand Prix, with Russell, Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton, and a returning Norris all set to have the home crowd's support behind them as they bid to chase down Verstappen's healthy lead at the top of the World Drivers' Championship.
Last year’s winner, Max Verstappen, is looking to win back-to-back British Grand Prix for the first time in his career and to be the first driver since Lewis Hamilton in 2019 and 2020 to win consecutive F1 races at the track. Other former British Grand Prix winners in this field include Carlos Sainz Jr. and Fernando Alonso.
Last weekend in Austria, Verstappen and McLaren driver Lando Norris were battling for the win when the two made contact.
The damage ended Norris’ day and sent Verstappen to the pits. He recovered to finish fifth, but it was Mercedes driver George Russell who ended the day atop the podium, taking advantage of the mishap between the leaders. Norris’ McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri was second while Sainz rounded out the podium.
Verstappen has still won seven of the 11 races this season and has a commanding lead in the driver standings with 237 points. Norris is second with 156. Charles Leclerc is just six points behind Norris as the race for No. 2 in the World Driver’s Championship has heated up. Sainz is in fourth while Sergio Perez, Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, is fifth.
Red Bull leads the constructors points with 355, followed by Ferrari at 291 and McLaren at 268. Mercedes is in contention as well with 196 points, followed by a huge gap back to Aston Martin in fifth with 58 points. Every podium has gone to a driver on a top four team.
