ANAHEjson"alterAnaheim, Calif. (Friday 3/29) – After several months of anticipation and buildup, the final pre-fight press conference for Saturday's boxing event featuring welterweights Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal takes place today.
For our live blog of the main event on Diaz vs. Masvidal, visit when the main card starts around midnight ET. If it does, though, Diaz and Masvidal injuries would form the headliner for what will be their first boxing ring encounter. That being said, Diaz was bested by Masvidal in their lone UFC fight less than four years ago.
Are you ready to watch the Last Man Standing fight between UFC legends Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal for free online in boxing? Diaz and Mazvidal will square off at Gotham Square Garden on Saturday in a 10-round light heavyweight main event. The event also includes a 10-round super middleweight co-main event of two-time world champion Daniel "Miracle Man" Jacobs versus Shane Mosley Jr., along with Amado Vargas vs. Sean Garcia, Devin Cushing against Manuel Correa and Chris Avila vs. MMA legend Anthony "Showtime" Pettis as part of the undercard assembled by Ohara Promotions
That certainly could give added relevance to Jorge Masvidal's expected boxing match with Nate Diaz.
Aside from more than a decade since his professional boxing debut, Masvidal (1-0, 0 KOs) has operated behind the scenes of Gamebred Promotions which is promoting this card in conjunction with Free Mike Boxing.
One-time professional boxer Diaz (0-1) managed the full 10-round distance in a loss to Jake Paul. Diaz was dropped, but as always the brave warrior showed a great heart and landed his fair share of shots while appearing to be overwhelmed by the much bigger Paul.
The main event is a rematch between Masvidal and Diaz in the second straight Madison Square Garden-headlined "BMF" fight, which went three before getting stopped by doctors due to cuts.
As regards these two fighters; were looking at very little, to no experience and data of boxing so it is hard task but we will simply do our best.
UFC legends have put the cage behind them and stepped into the ring - five years after they clashed in UFC Octagon for BMF belt, in New York. Masvidal and Diaz met at UFC 244 in November with Masvidal having his hand raised when the fight was stopped by a doctor after three rounds due to an ugly cut on Diaz.
Masvidal would lose his next four UFC bouts and has not competed for 18 months, while Diaz has fought just twice since that point in time following a defeat to Leon Edwards prior to choking out Tony Ferguson before the end of his last contracted fight two years ago. The rivals then agreed to a boxing match, after years of friction.
Diaz and Masvidal had fought previously in the UFC at UFC 244 last November. Masvidal won by doctor’s stoppage TKO after Round 3 to capture the inaugural BMF title, and chatter began almost immediately about a rematch.
The fight was initially slated for June 1 after being rescheduled back in March but is now here on the July Fourth weekend.
Despite these figures, Masvidal is actually a -270 favorite. That landed No1 Joseph Benjamin who had never won in 14 fights (_DB: We double-checked, he was actually listed as a pro at 0-8-2 and OG has him going into this fight with Ogogo featherweight champion of the world_) but rocked Goggle to his ropely wrapped hair tips and *BOOM*, it ruled a draw on my card.
Masvidal grew up fighting in the streets, so we know he can scrap, but by 2024 who knows what his boxing computer is at? Diaz we have seen in a fight, at least -- last year though nobody's ever going to confuse Diaz with Terence Crawford.
It will be fought at the light-heavyweight — 175-pound limit. Burns fights at 170 pounds, is a solidly built welterweight and stands no taller than Masvidal (he's listed as being the same) but does have four inches of reach on him. And he turned 34 last month while clocking in as the youngest man scheduled to work Sunday night.
Diaz, 39 next month, is a southpaw standing six feet tall with a 76-inch reach.
Diaz is at his best when he can wear opponents down with pressure, much like Paul wore him out in that 10-round fight Saturday. so as this one is slated to be. Masvidal will probably want to sit inside on Diaz and nullify his length. Diaz is probably going to try and make something of the two inches, but hey he even seemed happy enough banging on the inside with Paul.
This time it will happen Saturday night, inside a boxing ring. The duo have already been promoting the fight for weeks, and had four other press conferences with another ending in a chaos brawl between camps.
